my philosophy as a psychotherapist:

We are all born into this life and have various experiences that impact us and how we operate in the world. Those experiences create narratives and behaviors that we have about ourselves and the world. They can be incredibly protective and at times unhelpful. I believe that every human can make changes to find healing, regardless of the challenges they’re facing and systems they’re navigating. Life is complex and when you get stuck in the depths of those challenges, it can feel impossible that things will get better. I’m here to help you identify unhelpful narratives and behaviors while also process your experiences so that you can journey through life in a way that feels meaningful and joyous to you.

I get the privilege to walk alongside you on this journey while you pilot your own life. I often take a direct approach with clients to identify needs and provide resources and guidance, however, I will first and foremost honor your responsibility in your own healing journey. You have the answers within you and I am here to support you in exploring that inner knowing.

I use evidenced-based practices and do my best to stay up with the latest research, however, I do take a depathologizing approach in this work. What this means is that if a label and diagnosis will be helpful for you, then we will absolutely use it for language that meets your needs. I also understand the weight and harm it can do. Together, we will engage in an open and honest conversation about what you’re experiencing and how to best approach your healing journey.

Therapeutic work is deeply personal so your sense of safety in the therapeutic relationship is important for you to consider in order to navigate the vulnerability required for you to reach your healing goals. I commit to ensuring you’re provided with appropriate care and resources in our time together, even if that means at any point in our relationship you need a different level of care or you’d like to shift to a different therapist to better meet your needs. Fit is important and different seasons of life require different resources.

Although I have had the privilege of studying my way to the title of psychotherapist, I am a human first. In knowing this, my commitment as your therapist is to continue doing my own work and engaging in my own self care practices so I can sit alongside you in your journey. My intention is always to provide a non-judgmental and supportive space.

It is and always will be an honor and a privilege to get to hear your story. I look forward to working with you.
